San Andreas

A movie named "San Andreas" is released recently. Here is the trailer;

San Andreas is a "fault line" that runs along the coast of California. So first lets look at map of USA - note California is on west side the country. It is one of the biggest states in USA which has a very long coast line.

Now, what is a "fault line"? The land on which we live is made up of humongous plates - also called continents - that keep continuously moving but since this movement is slow we don't feel it - these plates move a few centimeters a year. These plates are called tectonic plates and many such tectonic plates exists and they happen to meet, push and move against each other. These points of meeting points of tectonic plates is called a "fault line". Movement of tectonic plates causes earthquakes.

Video below explains more about San Andreas fault.

Now lets discuss any questions that you have :)
